Hey everyone! After Mystic's first, somewhat hesitant, bike ride, it was time for the next step in our training process. This time, I wanted to give her a little more freedom to explore her surroundings (within safe limits, of course!).

As you can see in the picture and videos below, I've opened up the carrier a bit this time. I know it might look a little scary to some, but don't worry! Mystic is still securely fastened with an extra strong and short leash inside the carrier. This leash gives her enough room to move around and look around, but prevents her from jumping out if she gets scared or panics.
Safety is always my top priority when I'm out with Mystic. In addition to the short leash, I also have the yellow grid in front of the carrier. This acts as an extra safety measure, both for Mystic's and my own peace of mind. I want both of us to feel safe and relaxed during our bike rides. I understand that some might think it looks unnecessary, but for me, it's important to take all possible precautions.
We went for about an hour-long bike ride with this new setup. Mystic seemed much more interested in her surroundings this time. She looked around curiously and seemed to enjoy having a bit more "view." It was really fun to see her so engaged!
Mystic seemed to take it all very well. She was calm and curious throughout the entire ride. I kept a close eye on her to see if she showed any signs of stress or discomfort, but she just seemed to find it exciting(and a tad bit boring for a while). I think the open carrier made a big difference to her experience.
I will continue to introduce Mystic to bike rides gradually. The next step might be to lengthen the rides a bit and explore new places. I will, of course, continue to prioritize safety and make sure that Mystic always feels safe and comfortable.
Thank you for following our adventures! I hope you enjoyed seeing how Mystic did on her second bike ride. If you have any questions or tips, you are welcome to leave a comment below!
