Smart Storage on the Wagon – My Thoughts and Plans (and Mystic's Approval)

Hey everyone!

Today I wanted to share my ideas about storage on my wagon. It’s a project I’ve been thinking about for a while, and I’m finally starting to get a clearer picture of how I want it to be.

Having enough storage space is always a challenge, especially when you’re out adventuring with a wagon. I’ve been looking for a smart solution that maximizes space without compromising the wagon's balance and stability.

My plan is to install four extendable baskets on the wagon. Two baskets will be placed below the midpoint and two above. This gives me plenty of extra storage space without making the wagon too wide or cumbersome.

The baskets I plan to use come from an IKEA product (I’ll get back to you with the exact model later). They are made of metal and are surprisingly lightweight, which is a big plus. Weight is an important factor to consider, as I want to avoid making the wagon too heavy.

I plan to weld the baskets to the wagon’s frame to ensure they are securely attached and can withstand some rough handling. I’ll also construct some kind of locking mechanism to prevent the baskets from opening accidentally or by unauthorized persons. Safety is always important!

.

An important aspect of the design is the placement of the baskets. By placing the greatest weight between the wheels, I ensure that the wagon’s balance is not negatively affected. This is crucial for the wagon to be easy to maneuver and safe to use.

Mystic, the quality control manager on site. She makes sure everything is done correctly (or at least that there are enough things to climb on). She is my most important travel companion and must approve all upgrades to the wagon.

I had the company of Mystic in the garage today while I was thinking and measuring. Her presence was important, after all, she is the most important passenger and must approve all changes made to her rolling palace. We are good at different things. I ponder and measure, she provides moral support (and a lot of cat hair).

I’m really excited about this project and think it will make a big difference to my everyday life with the wagon. Having extra storage space in a smart and safe way will make things much easier.
